Universal life insurance

Mature Michael's story

Michael's employer provides a basic amount of term life insurance. That might have been enough when he was carefree and single. Now, Michael has a child on the way, a mortgage and other responsibilities. He wants to make sure his family will be well taken care of if he dies. Michael's employer offers a Universal Life insurance plan that even goes with Michael if he were to stop working there. Michael decides he wants to take advantage of this great opportunity and not only get coverage for himself by his spouse as well. Michael is a 36 year old non-smoker and his spouse is a 32 year old non-smoker. With a baby on the way, Michael decides that $9.00 a week for himself and $8.00 a week for his spouse fits into the family budget. Michael is able to get $53,135 in coverage while his wife has $34,049. Now Michael and his wife can sleep peacefully at night.

Accident coverage

Busy Gina's story

Gina is a single mom with two kids named Edgar and Isabel. Edgar is ten years old and Isabel is eight years old. Gina absolutely loves watching her kids play in team sports but worries about what might happen if one or both of them were to get hurt during a game. Gina does have medical insurance but realizes that is not always enough so she decides to enroll in Accident coverage for her and the kids. Fortunately Gina did this but unfortunately Edgar finally had his first game injury. He was playing soccer and tripped over one of the opposing team player's feet while trying to score a goal. Gina took Edgar to the emergency room and he was diagnosed with a broken ankle. Gina had one lucky break — her voluntary accident insurance paid her $400. That is a lot of money that she now does not have to pay out of her own pocket especially considering his per pay period amount is only $8.70 a week.

Critical illness with cancer coverage

Loving Laura's story

Laura was planning her daughter's wedding when a stroke disrupted her plans. Thanks to her critical illness coverage she received $20,000 from ING and was able to afford the treatment her medical insurance didn't cover. Laura was also able to continue to help plan her daughters wedding because she did not have to stress about affording treatment. So she was able to focus on her goal for recovery - to dance at her daughter's wedding. Laura is so thankful that she enrolled in this plan when she was 42 years old as a non-smoker. She was able to lock her premiums in at $9.84 a week plus she receives $50 a year just for visiting her doctor and $200 some years for getting a mammography performed.

Short term disability coverage

Productive Sam's story

Sam is the type of guy that needs to stay busy and he loves to help others. Sam can always find something to work on and improve around his parents house. He likes to help his parents because he sees that they are getting older and can not fix as many things for themselves as they used to. His parents have recently stopped putting up Christmas lights because of the toll if takes on their bodies, so this year Sam decided he would put up the lights for them. This past Christmas he got the ladder out and was putting the lights up in no time when suddenly the ladder slipped from underneath him and he fell to the ground. Sam ended up with a concussion, a broken wrists, and a broken hand, which means he is out of work until the doctors released him to go back. Luckily Sam is in a better position than most people are. He enrolled in his employer offered short term disability plan, which gives him an additional percentage of his income on top of the state. Sam knows that 55% of his income is not enough which is all that state disability will provide him, though he is thankful for that amount. His short term disability plan through ING is going to pay him an additional 25% on top of the state. This means Sam will collect 80% of his income once a month for 6 months, if he is out of work for a full 6 months. Sam's total weekly amount for the ING plan is only $7.57 per week. He can still afford gifts for his family.
